Christos Calivas lives and works in Rockland, Maine, and spends part of his time in Greece and Key West, Florida. In addition to being a full time painter, he is an avid sailor, a licensed Merchant Marine Captain, and holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree. His passion for sailing and the outdoor world is often reflected in his subject matter, which often encompass waterfront scenes, local architecture, the sky and water in its infinite variations of color and light. Calivas also focuses his artistic lens on the people and characters that inhabit these places, creating colorful and reductive figurative studies.
